Up for sale is a beautiful vintage / antique Chinese soapstone lidded container measuring roughly 3 1/8 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches in diameter. The age and purpose is unknown but it appears to carry some genuine age and has a beautifully carved lid depicting a grouping of flowers with a bird at their center. A small flattened section is carved at the base of the bottom to allow a greater grip when removing the lid (see photo 11). Beautifully translucent when a bright light is shone through the stone it has wonderful coloring and is quite enjoyable to view and handle. While the condition is good small chips are present around the rim of the bottom and underside of the lid where the two meet.
