Up for sale is an outstanding antique continental wood carved angel / cherub playing the flute. Carved by hand during the 19th century this work of art is expertly crafted and believed to be of lime wood. Measuring approximately 25 inches tall this is by no means a small carving and weighs just under 12 pounds 12 ounces. With a superb heavy patina present this angel wonderfully shows its age and where it has been mildly handled from its lighter areas. The condition is very good considering its age with the only visible repair done to the outer portion of the flute which at some point had broken off. Their are some small chips, knicks and or areas of small loss like to the bottom of the pointed foot but nothing done recently. On the back their appears to have been some type of wood filler just above where the hanger has been attached.
