Up for sale is a wonderful vintage Inuit / Alaskan stone carving by the rarely seen artist Josephie Kokseak (1933 - ) depicting a "Ptarmigan", a small bird. Purchased in either 1978 or 79 on Broughton Island a paper label with provenance is located on the underside of the carving. Original artist signature can be partially seen partially exposed from under the label. Measuring roughly 4 inches in length and 3.75 in height the condition is very good. The quality of the carving is excellent and original works by Kokseak are rare to come by making this an excellent opportunity for any collector with some of her carvings selling for well over $1,000.00.
