Alfonso Sarno is a rather rare European artist to come across and known for his excellent brushwork, conveying of emotion and composition. This beautiful yet emotional portrait of a young girl holding a doll with a tear drop running down her nose is a beauty. Resting in its original vintage wood frame makes this painting is ready to be hung and enjoyed in ones home or collection. Signed in the lower left corner "a. sarno" this work has all characteristics of a phenomenal Sarno oil painting which is considerably different compared to his more usual landscapes. This young black haired Mediterranean girls emotion permeates the dark background but unfortunately it is a mystery as to who she is and why she is crying. The brushwork seen in the face of the girl is expertly painted which can be seen in the images provided. While the background appears to be black it's composed of browns, red, yellow and green thick brushstrokes. The condition is near mint with just usual signs of age like minimal surface dirt, their are no rips, tears, punctures heavy abrasions or areas of loss. This rare oil painting is an excellent example of Alfonso Sarno works and the infrequently that they come up for sale this is a great opportunity. The images provided accurately represent the quality condition and aesthetic beauty.
