Up for sale is a beautiful little linocut by the famous American painter and printmaker Birger Sandzen entitled “Brook with Poplars”. Created in 1932 this print measures 5 x 4 1/2 inches while its original thin black wood frame measures 12 5/8 x 10 5/8 inches. This landscape shows a group of four poplars on the bank of a small brook against a dynamic sky with low mountains in the distance executed in Sandzen’s iconic style. The condition of the print appears quite good with expected toning which gets more severe at the matting’s edge. The frame also shows some minor cosmetic imperfections.
