Up for sale is an absolutely wonderful Junichiro Sekino woodblock entitled “Hakone: Mt. Fuji over the Lake” from the series “Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido”. Printed in 1977 this fine woodblock print depicts the wonderful traditional Japanese city of Hokane with the famous Mt. Fuji in the near distance. Signed in the lower right corner of the print “Juni Sekino” the work shows the artists chop just above as well as the artist’s name watermarked into the paper as shown photographed. The condition of the print is fabulous with its retained soft colors of blue but it does show a cut in the extreme low right edge sheet possibly original to the print and a couple tiny spots of foxing mostly in the margin. The sheet is excellent and the print overall is extremely charming and fine to view. Currently unframed, the work will be shipped flat.
