Paul Kauvar Smith was a phenomenal American impressionist painter during the earlier part of his career before painting abstract / modern compositions. His western impressionist landscapes are what are most celebrated with his stunning color choice and quick confident brushwork. This original oil painting on board is entitled “Autumn Aspens” more than likely captures a Colorado scene after which he moved to Denver from St. Louis in 1921. The painting measures approximately 16 x 20 inches while the two tone golf and white wood frame measures 21 x 25 1/2 inches. The condition of the work is excellent with just a couple horizontal lines of craquelure present. The colors are bright and incredibly vivid immediately catching your eye when passing by drawing you closer to until you see each and every brushstroke of the composition. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this rare and fine western American landscape but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
