Up for sale is an exceptionally rare and fine oil painting by the talented 20th century Asian painter Chit Swe. This impressionist portrait shows a woman in bright multicolor dress sitting in the middle of a river with tall mountains behind. Showing outstanding color, composition and brush work, this is an exemplary example by the artist whose known body of work is exceptionally small. The lighting is eye catching from the tall sunlit mountain to the closer cast in shadow and the sky which we get a small view just at the works center. The woman sits in the foreground of which the entire landscape behind draws full attention as though sitting center stage at a theatrical performance. The condition is fine showing minimal surface imperfections and light wear to its attractive original wood frame. Along the left edge of the painting there is some light gold spray color that goes about half way down. This mid century impressionist oil painting by Chit Swe is the finest example I have been able to locate making this an absolute gem from the scarcely seen artist. Executed in oil on masonite, the painting measures 21.25 x 16.75 inches while its wood frame measures 25.75 x 21.25 inches making this work ready to be hung and enjoyed!
