Little is known of the fantastic British artist "R. Thornton" other than the fact he was an absolute master at depicting cottages around England similar to this example. Enjoying using a varied palette of colors Thornton compositions of great color including a great array of flowers and moving water of which this painting both shows. With a traditional thatched roof Devonshire cottage consuming the left portion of this print it is highly decorated many different types and colors of flowers that are completely stunning. The left shows a more natural landscape with a small waterfall, mountain in the background, birds flying low over the waters surface and two figures, one male and female fishing / picking whats most likely garden delights.

The overall quality and level of execution is outstanding which can be seen well with the images provided. The condition is overall excellent with phenomenal colors and free from any types of creases, tears, repairs etc... This has been mounted to its backed board which is common for his works.
