Up for sale is an exquisite pair of matching gouache/watercolor paintings by the talented Burmese portrait painter Yatanabon Maung Su. These early 20th century antique portraits are titled "Shan Chinese Old Woman and Man" as seen low left both symmetrical so they can hang together as the artist intended. Each work is also signed "Yatanabon Maung Su" low right resting in their original, highly attractive wood frames with a fine orange silk border. Executed in gouache on paper each painting measures 14 x 11 inches while their gallery frames measures 22.75 x 19.75 inches still retaining their paper gallery label verso. The quality and overall execution is impressive to say the least attesting to why works by Yatanabon have only become more desirable for collectors over the years. The condition of the paintings while good do show some toning and foxing as well as some very minor old water damage to their extreme low border.
