Up for sale is a gorgeous original pastel by the talented French painter - Henri-Gaston-Jules-Louis Bouy - known as Gaston Bouy. Bouy worked in Belgium painting under Amedee Boursou prior to studying in Paris and the Julien Academy and the Beaux Arts School. He exhibited at many Paris salons and became well known for his pastel portraits of beautiful women. This pastel painting is executed on paper which is then laid to its original board and is signed in the low left corner “G. Bouy”. Measuring approximately 11 1/2 x 20 inches the condition of this pastel is quite excellent showing some minimal matt burn and foxing which is regularly seen on his works usually more severe. This portrait shows a beautiful woman from the back sitting atop a bed with two pillows reading a book while wearing a pink robe and matching hair tie. It is wonderfully executed and incredibly beautiful! The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this Gaston Bouy painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
