Up for sale is a truly phenomenal Colombian mountain landscape from the Bello, Antioquia born artist Jaime Carmona. Executed in oil on canvas this large painting measures 38 x 19 1/2 inches while its fine burl walnut frame with hand inlay decoration measures 46 x 27 1/4 inches. Signed in the lower-left corner “Jaime Carmona” the work is dated 1996 and is ready to be framed and enjoyed. The painting shows a scene yet powerful mountain landscape most likely depicting one of the mountains near his home town of Bello. The choice in composition with the upper two-thirds of the painting being the sky is a fascinating and aesthetically pleasing design choice making the large mountain almost feel dwarfed below the open blue. With the majority of the canvas dedicated to the “big sky” it changes the way the landscape is perceived and examined by the viewer. Whispy clouds quickly pass over the top of the mountain and middle sky leaving the top third a thought-provoking empty blue expanse. Carmona’s paintings are extremely rare to surface especially one of such grandeur beauty and size making this a fabulous opportunity for any collector.
