Up for sale is a wonderful original watercolor painting by the talented American artist Peter Driben depicting a nice harbor scene. This work falls far outside of his usual subject matter which is pin-up girls making this a rather unique stand-alone work. Trying to find any other landscape works by Driben is extremely difficult especially from this time period because he was painting exclusively only pin-ups during the 40’s and 50’s. This work is signed and dated low right “Peter Driben 1948” and measures approximately 14 x 18.5 inches while the original gold wood frame measures 22 x 26.5 inches. This impressionist painting is well executed and clearly showed Peter had a talent outside of his figural works. The painting shows toning and discoloration while the frame shows knicks and cosmetic blemishes, a change of frame/matting would go along way.
