Up for sale is an outstanding antique oil painting depicting the portrait of a woman sitting out on a terrace overlooking Paris. Painted after the original by the celebrated Norwegian painter Hans Olaf Heyerdahl, titled “At The Window” was executed in 1881 and it now resides in the permanent collection of The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, Norway. While the artist of this work is unknown the painting does bear a monogram low right and is executed at a phenomenally high level! The brushwork, color and and detail is tremendous and while technically a copy, carries itself as a work unbelievably well. The canvas is stamped verso “Kemp & Co.”, a London artist supply company, who used this ink stamp from 1890-1937 helping provide a date window. Executed in oil on canvas the painting measures 30 x 25 inches while its frame measures 37 x 32 inches. The condition of the painting is extremely fine while its attractive two tone gold and black wood frame shows some chipping and light wear. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine painting after Heyerdahl but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
