Hugo Anton Fisher was born in Kladno, Czechoslovakia in 1854 and moved to the United States in 1874 first living in New York and then moving out to California in 1886. Setting up a studio in San Francisco Fisher quickly became known for his watercolors depicting scenes of countrysides and marshes. This bovine centered watercolor is an outstanding example of why he was so enjoyed as an artist and continues to be collected today.
This watercolor depicts a Shepard guiding a group of cattle down a muddy country road. The detail in the bovine is wonderful as well as the wet road making you almost anticipate water coming out of the bottom of the frame. The condition is phenomenal void of any damage or imperfections. This original watercolor has been kept and preserved textbook perfect and now rests with acid free backing as well as anti reflective glass. Believed to be its original gold heavy gesso frame fitting the image perfect makes it stand out on a wall with other works naturally attracting the eyes. The frame has one spot of loss on the top border and possibly during transit some more could possibly break.
The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine watercolor but if you have any additional questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
