Moving to the United States at the age of seven he quickly excelled as an artist winning an artistic scholarships as a student allowing him to study in Europe. In 1919 he moved to Hollywood, California and began painting desert and mountain landscapes. This phenomenal oil painting is titled “Sierra Majesty” depicting the Palisade Glacier located in the John Muir Wilderness. Executed in oil on canvas board measuring 18 x 24 inches the original frame measures 23 3/4 x 29 3/4 inches and is in fine condition. Signed in the low left corner “Paul Grimm” the work is signed a second time and titled verso. The work shows fine color and brushwork inviting the viewer closer to better observe the texture and overall sense of captured motion. This is an extremely rare location painted by Grimm and is far more refined and desirable among the many examples that make themselves available.
