Up for sale is an outstanding watercolor painting by the talented American painter Robert Hallowell depicting 23 Wall Street, New York City. This neoclassical four story building was constructed in 1914 and was originally the headquarters of JP Morgan Chase until the late 1980’s. Looking from the steps of Federal Hall, the large looming 15 Broad Street building is seen towering over this already full composition. Only minimal blue sky is seen as it is bordered and split by the city’s iconic, tall architecture. Painted in 1932, this painting is signed low left and measures 23.5 x 18.5 inches while its gold metal frame measures 31.25 x 26 inches. Previously retailed by The Marbella Gallery, the original gallery label is attached verso. The condition is fine with one small spot of discoloration in the blue sky to the right making this an even more wonderful example by the celebrated Hallowell. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this beautiful antique painting of the 23 Wall Street building by Robert Hallowell but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
