Luigi Kasimir is an incredibly well known artists and has been very prominent in the American art market for over 40 years. He was born in Pettau in Germany in 1881 and died 1962 in Vienna Austria. Luigi had art in his blood as his grandfather was a poet and artist, also his dad was an artist post his military career. Luigi went to the Vienna Academy of Art studying under William Unger who first introduced him to the etching process. He was a pioneer in the process of color etchings because they were all done by hand after the impression leaving a "sloppy" look, Luigi placed the color first on the plate, so when it was impressed it would already have the color. This eliminated the post impression hand coloring and offered a more natural clean look. Since then Luigi has become a world renowned artist and his pieces sit in countless museums and galleries around the world. He is famous for piece from the Vienna Opera House, to New York's sky scrappers, and even the landscapes of Yosemite National Park.

Gastein Waterfall in Austria is one of the most beautiful in all the country. Located in the south west region of the country Gastein Falls is a popular tourist destination and a beloved scene from the country that so many of Luigi's etchings depict. As a native Austrian Kasimir created this phenomenal image of the falls in 1944 as seen in the lower left plate showcasing not only the falls but the natural green landscape to the left and buildings on the right.

This etching is in mint condition with no signs of wear or damage and is not an estate signed work. This is an original Luigi Kasimir etching signed in the low center inside the plate mark. With an even crisp impression and bright colors this work appears to have been printed earlier in its edition as well as preserved over the last 70+ years. Professionally framed in a thin black wood frame with gold accent this work rests under plexiglass and is ready to be hung and enjoyed in your home or collection. Kasimir always loves to throw a tiny but of contrasting color in his prints and this one he added a woman walking across the bridge over the falls with a vibrant red umbrella, the only red in the entire work.
