Up for sale is a rare Utagawa Hiroshige color woodblock entitled “Fujisawa” showing Mt. Fuji to the left from the Pine Forest of Nanki near Fujisawa. Printed in 1855 this original print measures 14 3/4 x 10 inches (full sheet) while the woodblock measures 13 1/2 x 8 7/8 inches. Adhesive holds the print to its backed paper at its top two corners and under the print is a paper label indicating this came through the hands of Japanese print dealer S.M. Shiba Miyanoshita which bears his red seal present verso on the low left corner. The print shows loss of color, soiling, minor foxing and a crease that runs down the right-center of the sheet. This is a rare and excellent original Hiroshige woodblock in which condition, quality and aesthetic beauty is accurately represented with the provided images but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
