Hurt, who is from Orlando, dedicated his later life to painting lovely landscapes of primarily Florida scenery. This example is extremely impressive with the canvas measuring 36 x 60 inches while its decorative gold wood frame measures 41 x 65 inches. Depicting a Florida beach landscape decorated with dense palm trees to the left, the ocean with rolling waves takes up the right half of the composition. Delicately painted seagulls walk along the surf and fly over the white churning waves all under a clear blue sky. Painted with a fine level of detail and brushwork the painting is so appealing on the eye and looks tremendous when hung.
