Up for sale is a fantastic vintage folk art painting by the celebrated Mexican painter Agapito Labios depicting a young girl in a rose adorned white dress. With both arms held out each hand holds a colorful delicate flower while an archway of birds stretch over. The birds are vary showing a parrot, duck, hummingbird, dove and more. Each are wonderfully painted in contrasting tones from warm red parrots to the cool blue hummingbird. The young girl shows blue bows tied in her pig tails, red roses across the white dress and a fine lace around the bottom edge and legs. Standing against a flat green background I particularly like the geometric patterned warm red tiles of the floor. This work is signed low left "A Labios" in red and is executed in oil on canvas measuring 23.5 x 18 inches its vintage wood frame measures 27.25 x 21.5 inches. The condition of this painting is overall quite good but does show expected craquelure and partially discolored varnish as well as some minimal surface abraisons.
