Up for sale is a rare little etching by western print maker William Alfred King. Titled “The Ox Cart - Misty Dawn”, this etching is numbered 7 from the small edition of 75 and is inscribed by the artist low center to “E.J. Snyder my friend”. Signed low right “Wil King” this image measures 7 x 9 inches while its period gold wood frame measures 14 x 16.25 inches. The image depicts a man sitting atop a large wheeled cart being pulled by a pair of oxen within a misty landscape. The atmosphere of the landscape is rather mysterious with the only lines visible being that of the hill the cart it sitting atop as well as a mountain in the distance. This is an extremely rare etching by King and one of two works that I currently have available by the artist. The work is in very good condition showing only two minor spots of discoloration in the top right which could easily be addressed by any paper conservator. The frame also shows knicks and minor loss. This work was purchased from F.H. Bresler Co. gallery of Milwaukee and still retains its original paper label verso. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this lovely print by William King but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
