Up for sale is an extremely rare etching by western print maker William Alfred King. Titled “The Lone Cowboy - Misty Dawn”, this etching is numbered 12 from the small edition of only 15! Signed low right “Wil King” the image measures 6.25 x 7.5 inches while its period gold wood frame measures 19 x 15 inches. The image depicts a cowboy sitting atop his strong black horse within a misty landscape. The atmosphere of the landscape is rather mysterious with the only lines visible being that of the hill the horse it standing atop as well as some feint distant mountains. This is an extremely rare etching by King and one of two works that I currently have available by the artist. The work is in very good condition showing only some minor foxing which could easily be addressed by any paper conservator. The frame also shows knicks and minor loss. This work was purchased from F.H. Bresler Co. gallery of Milwaukee and has been held in the same collection since being purchased until now.
