Up for sale is an absolutely beautiful original Japanese woodblock by the talented late 20th century artist Ryusei Okamoto. Depicting a beautiful young woman in side profile she wears a floral dress and hair decorations entitled “South Island Festival Girl” printed in 1982. From the edition of 350 this was one of the very first prints executed being number 6 and it shows with its fine impression and coloring. The condition is truly superb free from any mentionable imperfections other than some cosmetic blemishes to the frame. This highly attractive oval portrait is surrounded with a mountainous landscape acting as a fine border that progresses from the clouds over the mountains, past villages and finally ships present in the sea at the very bottom. The coloring is bright and vivid and looks superb when hung on the wall. This work was original purchased from Kanda’s Gallery as seen from the label verso.
