Leroy Neiman was born in 1921 in Saint Paul , Minnesota and during his later life was considered the greatest American artist who was still alive. The majority of his pieces depict sporting events and leisure activities including the Olympics, Superbowl, World Series, Kentucky Derby, PGA and The Masters golf tournament, World Equestrian Games, and Wimbledon. After serving as a cook through WWII Leroy began to be recognized for his art and was put to use painting sets for the Red Cross theatre shows. He studied at St. Paul School of Art, and then at The Art Institute of Chicago while on the G.I. Bill. Leroy Neiman began his career by illustrating for Playboy magazine which he continued up until his death in 2012. Neiman has since achieved such a beloved and dedicated group of collectors after his works due to his bright, colorful, and energetic filled compositions which most people cant help but fall in love with.
This limited edition serigraph "American Stock Exchange, New York", is full of color and energy as the trading floor is filled with many busy brokers trading, yelling trying to operate in such a stressful environment. With countless televisions over head showing current stock prices a beautiful American flag is present in the top left corner. So much color, movement and energy is present in this piece which is a perfect example of why Neiman's pieces are so loved and collected. This is a fine piece is numbered early in the edition 66/375 printed in 1986 and in stunning condition. With the serigraph image measuring an outstanding 31 x 38 inches this is a large and stunning textured serigraph. What makes print even more outstanding is the fact that it has never been framed and stored flat for the last 30 years. In near pristine condition their are just a couple of minor handling creases in the margins and a slight water mark in the upper left margin. With Leroy's large and easily definable signature at the bottom right, this is a highly rare serigraph by which most would classify as the most recognizable American artists of the late 20th century. This print will be safely rolled in a large tube.
