David Roberts is a well accomplished British artist of the early 19th century primarily painting Arab, African and Middle Eastern subject matter / landscapes. Robert's works are highly desirable especially his portfolio of Middle Eastern cities of which this hand colored lithograph comes from. Showing the city of Gaza in the distance soldiers on horseback are leaving Gaza while a small group of men talk in the foreground. Signed in the plate and dated lower left "David Roberts, Gaza, March 21st 1839"; this work is in overall excellent condition when considering its age. It has been a-fixed to board and has just a couple of minor spots of foxing in the top half of the print. Excellent original color is still present showing it has been kept out of direct sunlight. The print measures 19 x 13 inches while the attractive white wood frame measures 26.5 x 21 inches.
