Up for sale is an outstanding pair of matching 19th century male and female portraits in their original gold wood frames and gallery label verso. Both works are in matching original gold gesso frames which measure 26 x 29.75 inches while the canvas measures 20 x 24 inches. Dating to the mid to late 1800's these works have maintained their original beauty and realistic qualities. Both unsigned, as expected, the quality of both works are quite impressive with soft skin tones and translucent layers making these two individuals appear as alive in the canvas. Both are perfectly portrayed as you can see in the provided photos. Each verso has its original gallery paper label from "Louis Katz Art Galleries 308 Columbus Ave".

The female portrait is in excellent condition with just a couple of spots in-paint around the top and left outer background, not in the face. The male portrait has damage/repair to the frame where you can see the split in the upper right. In addition their are abrasions / imperfections all visible in the photo located around the perimeter of the work.
