Up for sale is an OUTSTANDING early American portrait painting of a beautiful mother and daughter in blue and red dress executed on canvas. This painting is large and impressive with the frame measuring 33  36.5 inches while the canvas measures 28.5 x 32 inches. This original oil painting has significant age to it and appears to be painted in either the late 18th or early 19th century. The style is slightly primitive but I would not consider necessarily folk art, just the style of the day. This is a rather nice portrait with the two subjects being placed outside with blue sky and trees by their sides compared to the usual and mundane black background.

The execution is impressive and the overall quality attests to its creator. Unfortunately the painting is unsigned and I can not find any traces of a signature of monogram. This may very well have been painted by a well listed artist. This painting was professionally restored back in 1967 as noted by the writing on the back of the frame as seen in the last photo provided. Their are a couple of patches on the reverse but other than that the integrity of the painting is very good. This picture has craquelure over the majority as well as dirt and grime which would come off with a good cleaning and even relining.
