Up for sale is a truly fantastic work of art mimicking the likeness of some of Francis Bacon's masterpieces. This composition depicting two nude subject; one on a bed while the other rests in a bath tub is visually striking for multiple reasons. One of those reasons is the initial emotions that this work generates on the initial viewing. Two abstracted and grotesque nudes are displayed in their mangled forms barely recognizable as human forms especially true for the one on the bed. The more erotic pose from the bath tub is more recognizable but the subjects face mimics one of Picasso's African masked cubists face he famously painted. The colors are excellent with the warm red tones of the bathroom in contrast to the cooler left half and the excellent painted metal frame green bed. I particularly love the way the artist chose to depict that the bare ceiling bulb was giving off light with the yellow egg yoke like shape surrounding it.
The texture of the work overall is also inviting for a closer look helping pull in the viewer to see the heavily applied brushstrokes and curvatures of the bodies. The work rests in a thin black wood frame measuring a total of 36.5 x 27.5 inches and is executed on canvas that is in overall excellent condition. The work shows some minor discoloration craquelure in the lower black portion of the painting but is very minimal. Also, the white paint seen under the left post of the bed is original to the work. This is signed in the lower right corner "Larmay" which is also present verso and dated what looks like "90". The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine original oil painting but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
