Up for sale is a superb French impressionist oil painting on canvas depicting Paris's famous Notre Dame Cathedral looking of the Seine river. This depiction of the famous Cathedral is rather nice and one reason is the artists viewpoint of the church. Generally many works show the church from the front but this one is painted about a mile away looking at the back and we get a good view of the choppy water of the Seine as well as a small boat in the lower right and the Pont de L'Archeveche bridge to the left. This vintage oil painting on canvas was painted with a palette knife giving phenomenal texture and depth to this picture. The level of execution is impressive clearly attesting to the ability of the artist. This work is signed in the lower left corner but unfortunately is illegible. Resting in its original mid century wood frame that measures 21 x 18 inches while the canvas measures 16 x 13 inches. The condition is perfect free from any damage but the painting does have some minor craquelure which nicely shows the age this work carries.
