Up for sale is an absolutely OUTSTANDING antique victorian oil painting on board depicting an interior scene with a fine dressed woman in floral dress holding a birdcage with a parrot as her russell terrier takes a closer look. Painted with a phenomenal amount of detail this small oil on artist board dates to the early to mid 1800's and is in good condition. The painting would benefit from a good cleaning as their is some visible yellowing of varnish in the lower left portion and a slight raise to it. Unfortunately this work of art has a thin scratch across the middle of the painting and a small tad in the upper left. The quality of execution is impressive clearly painted by a very talented individual, unfortunately this work is unsigned and has been unattributed. Placed in a mid 20th century wood frame that measures 9.25 x 11 inches the oil on board measures 6.5 x 8.75 inches.

The detail seen in the gold pitcher and charger in the top left corner is wonderful and having this bright color gives nice contrast with the dark surrounding. The woman's dress is exquisitely painted with a intricate and fine floral pattern. Even the individual hairs on her dog can be seen. Finding victorian paintings of similar content and quality is getting difficult to do with most being held in private collections. This came out of a fine collection of oil paintings and prints from a Gainesville Florida estate.
