Up for sale is just a striking original piece of illustration artwork dating to the 1940's-1950's depicting a bright red head woman sitting in bed wearing a pink gown while talking on the phone. To the left sits a wonderful blue Asian design porcelain lamp and just under you see the top of the black rotary phone. The woman is surrounded by cool colors of her blue comforter and blue wall which creates a great contrast with her warm explosive hair and soft light pink gown. You can almost feel the delicate textures of the bedding and gown. A nice gold color also brings together bot the left and right work of this piece from her gold charm bracelet placed on her right arm and the trim / finial of the lap shade.
This unsigned work is executed with great ability and when I first laid eyes on this work I had thought surely it was a poster. Executed in watercolor and gouache this is executed on illustrator board which was commonly used for commercial use. This is unsigned which also leads me to believe this was commercially used but I have been unable to locate where or what product it advertised. Notice the open space in the upper left portion of this work; it could have easily been used for text and a product logo. Measuring approximately 19.25 x 24.25 inches the outer white edges can easily be covered by a matting which is how it used to be framed. The condition overall is very good with slight imperfections around the outermost of the work and or minor surface blemishes. This is an absolutely stunning work of art deserving of a good home or collection where it will be framed and enjoyed on the wall. The images provided accurately represent the quality, condition and aesthetic beauty of this fine original work of illustration art but if you have any questions please feel free to ask prior to purchasing!
