Up for sale is a stellar antique Bavarian oil painting of hunters in a snowy mountain landscape! This oil painting on canvas is a well executed and unique as it does include three hunters shooting at the running shadowed creatures in the lower left corner. The mountains have a dark and ominous feel which adds to the overall tone of this kind of dreary composition but also has a grandeur feeling with the towering mountains in the background. The period gold wood frame measures approximately 27.5 x 23.25 inches while the canvas measures 20 x 16 inches. Their is missing gesso to the frame and damage to the canvas along the right edge and a few other spots as seen in the photos provided which accurately represent the condition! The age is very well seen on the reverse as the canvas is wonderfully darkened as well as the wood frame. The back side of the canvas is stamped with "Edward Dechaux, New York" as he was a supplier of fine artist materials.
