Up for sale is a beautiful antique victorian watercolor depicting a fabulous English landscape with a church and city. This original painting is executed on paper and has a partial signature on the reverse side of the work as shown in the last photo provided. This scene has two subjects in the foreground overlooking a small but calming body of water with a city just beyond. Notice the large looming tree with all its exposed roots to the left which was a favored and practiced technique in painting these traditional 19th century landscapes. The small city tucked into this landscape clearly shows off its wonderful old church in the center that is more than looming over the rest of the city. This watercolor is resting in its original gold wood frame which is in phenomenal condition for its age with just a couple minor spots of missing gesso. Measuring in total approximately 19.25 x 16 inches the watercolor measures 14.75 x 11.5 inches and is in overall excellent condition. Showing just minimal spots of foxing as seen in the sky, upper right portion, this work is also slightly toned yellow.
